Director of Finance is a senior executive responsible for managing the
financial actions of Pacific Glazing Contractors.
Reports to: President
Direct Reports: A/P, A/R, Assistant Controller
Status: Exempt (Executive Exemption)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works with the Board of Directors and other executives to establish short term objectives and long-range plans and related plans and policies.
- Presents quarterly reports on the status Pacific Glazing’s operations to the board of directors and to company staff.
- Reviews the financial results of all operations, comparing them to PGC’s objectives and responding appropriately to correct performance and results.
- Prepares financial statements, including income statement, balance sheets and WIP report.
- Prepares and files quarterly and yearly state and federal payroll tax returns and other governmental agency reports.
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits, providing information to external auditors.
- Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances, making investments.
- Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant entities.
- Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and overseeing training employees.
- Oversees insurance function to assure company’s assets are safeguarded from all possible exposure.
- Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Maintains vision for department.
Required Experience and Expertise:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation is preferred.
- Managing Processes, Financial Software, Developing Standards, Audit, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tracking Budget Expenses, Financial Skills, Analyzing Information, Developing Budgets, Performance Management and Leadership and Supervisory experience.
- Excellent managerial and financial skills with thorough understanding of management and financial practices in all areas and phases of business operations.
The Estimator will develop, build, and maintain strong relationships with current and potential customers through inside and outside sales efforts. The Estimator is responsible for executing the entire bid process and will secure projects that PGC can execute successfully. The Estimator is a highly motivated and service-oriented team member.
Purpose: The Estimator will develop, build, and maintain strong relationships with current and potential customers through inside and outside sales efforts. Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate takeoffs and develop estimates based on contract documents.
- Use techniques to be a competitive and successful bidder.
- Participate in pre-bid job walks, scope meetings, and bid follow up.
- Lead and participate in successfully handing off estimates to the project manager and field superintendent to facilitate a positive and profitable project.
- Meet or exceed sales and profit projections.
- Review monthly Budget vs Actual reports and provide input/make adjustments in future bids where necessary.
- Participate in project meetings, as necessary.
- Review change orders over $5k.
- Review and negotiate contract language.
Required Experience and Expertise:
- 5 years’ experience in the glazing industry.
- Accurate takeoffs, strong vendor relationships, and competent knowledge of labor requirements.
- Experience negotiating and assembling bid packages.
- Expertise estimating the following glass/glazing scopes including, but not limited to curtain wall, storefront, entrances, windows, sunshades, aluminum and phenolic panels, fire rated glazing/assemblies, frameless mirrors, glass canopies, smoke baffle, and glass railings.
- Essential office skills: typing, computer literacy, and able to navigate the internet.
- Professional oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with General Contractors, vendors, and PGC departments.
- Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Knowledgeable in union glazier labor and rules.
- Knowledgeable in California Building Code, International Building Code, basic pre-engineering, Title 24, STC/OITC, GANA guidelines.
- Proficient in understanding construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in reading and understanding bid invitations, vendor quotes, installation manuals, and contracts.
- Must be able to understand and apply items in the bid including, but not limited to, insurance (OCIP/CCIP/UCIP), diverse business inclusions (DVBE, SBE, MBE, WBE), general GC requirements, and job specific requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to, creating proposals through the PGC bid template, knowledge of glazing systems to correctly fill out the PGC labor spreadsheets, understanding the bid review checklist, creating formulas for job specific items, and identifying formula errors.
- Proficient in Bluebeam including, but not limited to, compiling a highlighted scope package, performing takeoffs and measurements, marking up and commenting, and collaborating on a Session in Bluebeam Studio.
- Excellent math skills.

The project engineer supports projects by assisting project managers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain stock submittal samples
- Maintain project submittal samples until project is inactive then document and discard
- Follow up with purchasing on outstanding POs
- Process, follow up, and track project submittals and order samples, as needed
- LEED paperwork
- With direction of PM, assist in taking off project material such as shims, setting blocks, caulking, fasteners and sizing glass, giving information to PM to check and release for purchasing
- Follow up on RFI and Change Order Log with GC
- Execute closeout requests (vendor and company warranties, etc.)
- Maintain and update the Submittal Log
- Create and post load lists
- Request consumables from shop through SmartSheets
Required Experience and Expertise:
- 2 years of experience in the glazing trade (ideal)
- 1 year of experience in Project Engineering or Project Coordination (ideal)
- Essential office skills: typing, computer literacy, and able to navigate the internet
- Software experience: Microsoft and Google Platforms
- Excellent professional oral and written communication skills
